Trip to Nebraska

We have really been traveling a lot lately.  We started our travels over a weekend in May to Nebraska (then did Florida the last week in May and then KC the 2nd weekend in June).  Anyways, we have been lucky to be able to travel all over and see our wonderful family and friends.  Here are some pics from the NE trip in May.

The first two ones are from a random rest stop in Iowa where they have an arm from one of the many windmills we drive by all the time.  We knew they were big, but when you see them next to a 2 (maybe 3) story building, you really understand the size.  Pretty cool eh?

The Jumperoo

The Jumperoo was such a great thing for Brendan and much the same for Spencer! Oh yea, notice the hair?  I love that I can make it curl after a bath :)

Spencer is a good spitter!  Especially when meds come his way.

Brothers

When we found out we were expecting Spencer, I had hoped that someday the boys would be great friends.  I figured it wouldn't be until they were older and wiser.  However, they both really seem to enjoy each other now.  I expect there will be a few more moments when Spencer actually has an opinion of what he wants to do, but for now, they are all smiles when they see each other.

To the Beach!!!

We took our first family vacation a few weeks ago!  Spencer was a trooper and had a great time (as you can tell by the smiles on his face).  Check out Brendan's blog for more photos of the trip!

We stayed at a hotel in the cities the night before our plane left so that we wouldn't have to add the 1.5 hour drive on to our morning.   Spencer says, "hey Mom, these guys are boring!"

Spencer passed out before the plane left.  That was a lucky break.  He did get quite upset upon our descent for about 10 minutes on each flight, but basically cried himself to sleep on both occasions.

"Captain Adorable" is what his shirt says!

Hanging with Aunt Nancy.

Hey Mom, I got toes!

Watch out, there is a shark in the water today!

Spencer really loved the sand.  I remember Brendan at this age not liking it at all.  Spencer just kept piling it up on his legs!

Playing with the big boy toys at Papa Tipton's house.

We had an amazing trip to Florida.  The best part was that Spencer got to meet his Papa Richard Tipton!  Aunt Nancy and Aunt Kathy were there along with cousins Amy, Andrew, Aiden and Annabell.  I can't even tell you how great it is to visit family!!!!  A trip to remember forever!!!

Spencer x 2 months

Hmmm so there was text with this when I first posted it and now there is not.  Let's see, what did I say?
Spencer is now able to roll all over the place which adds a bit of ease to our world in that we don't have to worry about SIDS so much anymore.  He is much more comfy sleeping on his side and we think it is cute.  Spencer has not figured out (or just doesn't care) that he can move far with his rolling.  Instead, he prefers to sit where he is and have us bring him things.  It actually works for him.  Maybe we need to stop paying attention to him :)

A Saturday at the Zoo

Spencer's first trip to the Zoo!  And we think he had a really good time.  He napped all the way there, then woke up to watch and check out  this new place!  And then napped all the way home!  What a day!

Spencer's 6 month stats!

I guess I need to get a thing on the side of this blog to track Spencer's growth like I have on Brendan's blog.   But until I do, here are his 6 month stats...

Weight: 16.5 pounds, 32nd percentile
Height: 26.1 inches, 38th percentile
Head circumference: 17.4 inches, 60th percentile

He is slowing down on growth (he was born  in the 93rd percentile for length and 66th percentile for weight), but his noggin is growing by leaps and bounds.  Another boy genius!

6 months old!!!

Hey Everyone!  My baby is 6 months old today!  When did that happen!?!?!  For real... I think that I have really entered a sleep deprived time warp as it was not a half a year ago that Spencer entered our world!  What a busy family we have here in Minnesota.  Spencer is currently protesting his move from the bassinet to the pack and play for sleep at night.  Daddy is snuggling him and I am taking a moment to blog!
So what has Spencer been up to?
Spencer can now sit up by himself.
He can roll from belly to back.
He might know how to roll from back to belly but won't show us.
He can grab things (big and small) and pass them from hand to hand.
He says ma-ma-ma-ma, ba-ba-ba-ba and a yell/growl that I don't know how to spell. He is very vocal when he doesn't have his paci in his mouth.
On that note, he does like his pacifier, which is new to us.

We tried our first attempt at food.  He has only had milky rice cereal thus far and I'm not sure I can say that he has had it as I'm pretty sure it all comes back out.  But he gets excited and acts like he wants it.  Here are some photos of the first few spoonfuls.

Now, Mommy and Daddy, I shall get what I really want.  Hmmm which of big brother's candy do I want?

This will do!

Spencer is not a huge fan of tummy time, but does much better than Brendan ever did.  I have seen him roll from his belly to his back twice now.  But on the whole he doesn't appear to want to roll around.  He is much more interested in sitting up (see later photos).

Spencer can sit up by himself now.  He LOVES his big brother and watches him all the time!  This has actually become a problem when it's time to eat.  If big brother is close by, Spencer loses his concentration and would rather watch Brendan than eat. This leads to smaller, more frequent meals, which are less convenient for Mommy!  Anyways, they play well together.  Not surprisingly, Brendan wants whatever Spencer has.  So we are working on a "you can't take things from Spencer.  You need to bring him a different toy and see if he will trade" approach to playing for Brendan.

And best of all, Spencer is such a HAPPY BABY BOY!!!
